Daily Doodle : Filter Kaapi

Thank Filter Kaapi or filter coffee is a South Indian (mainly Tamil Nadi and Karnataka) style of coffee. Where one packs coffee grounds into a filter and presses it down, gently pours water over the top, taking care not to disturb it and allows it to trickle down slowly. Usually left overnight this is how we start our day here. With a cup of strong filter Kaapi sweetened with Karupatti (a kind of sugar that’s a little…..gingery)

It’s usually had in this tumbler and cup know as a Davara and Lota. Usually cooled by pouring them from one vessel to the other so that a thick froth forms on top.

Have you tried it before?
